This contemporary and spirited arrangement is based on Hark! The Herald Angels Sing and Bring a Torch, Jeannette, Isabella. As the title suggests, the entire work thrives on rhythmic pulse. This work for young band draws inspiration from a park in the Great Lakes region where an annual display of dancing lights brightens the winter skies. Gaelic Castle

Based on the emotional Irish song, this thoughtful setting paints a picture of a man dreaming of the day he can return home. At times, the piece feels more like a fantasy than an arrangement as the melody weaves through an increasingly complex series of textures and harmonies before returning to the plaintive sounds of the opening.

Where the River Shannon Flows

Take on the dynamic spirit of the ancient Vikings in this energetic piece! Open-string double stops, pizzicato, and optional percussion create a dramatic sound that will transport you into a legendary seafaring adventure. Each instrument part is featured while working on various bowing styles and dynamics. Violins utilize low 2nd finger, while basses have limited low 1s.

Four short movements make up this "petite symphony" constructed in the same form as the elements of a traditional symphony: Allegro non troppo; Largo; Scherzo and Allegro vivace. Each movement also refers to an element of nature. Movement 1, Air, is light and breathy, made up mostly of staccato notes. Water, the second movement, ripples and flows softly and gently. An homage to Holst's The Planets can be heard in Earth, the third movement. The piece concludes in an intense inferno with Fire. A powerful and cleverly composed piece!

The cello section imitates distorted guitar timbres, while upper strings soar over pulsating rhythms. This piece proves that guitars and drums are not required to rock heavy metal!

Many fictional works portray the moon as a living being, alone in space looking down at the earth. This lullaby honors this "living moon," portraying various emotions, including the loneliness of seeing us from space as well as moments of comfort, much as a parent watches over a child. Simply stunning!

Multiple effects include col legno, mutes, and harmonics (which are all explained in detail in the performance notes). The incredible symphonic nature of the entire work gives your orchestra a huge sound without the need for any winds or percussion. It's a thrilling addition to any performance.
